The wine cellar of the month is: Gaja
For this month’s wine cellar we move to the region of Piedmont and we would like to introduce you to Gaja.
Gaja is a company whose name is preceded by its fame, for it has been creating strong and original products since the mid 1800s. Gaja wines (Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, and Cabernet Sauvignon, regardless of the vine variety) are a true tasting pleasure.
Gaja wines reflect the excellency of a unique company
Barbaresco Gaja 1975, 3,78 cl.: ruby red, hints of liquorish and raspberry, sapid taste—these are the main characteristics that come to life when enjoying such a rich wine. However, one can also enjoy blackberry, tobacco, leather, and pepper aromas, as well. If you’re wondering about the aging process, it takes place in large oak barrels.
Alteni di Brassica Gaja 2016, 0.75-liter bottle: sight, smell, and taste are literally captivated by this white wine from Piedmont. With its hay yellow color and its fruity sensors, its hints of honey and its harmonious finale, every detail of this bottle is perfectly balanced.
Sori San Lorenzo Gaja 2015, 0.75-liter bottle: a 100% Nebbiolo, a quality wine with refined tannins that has won numerous awards in Italy and abroad. This wine instantly captivates anyone who has the luxury of tasting it (perhaps alongside a hefty first course, or a second course with red meat) precisely because of its structure and acidity, which are both worth noting. We certainly cannot forget the hints of wild cherry and prunes, which envelop the palate with class and elegance.
